With clients I will often state that you are not being hypnotized. Rather you are de-hypnotizing yourself.
You are already in a hypnotic track.
You have an experience and you respond automatically, almost without conscious acknowledgement. This is everyday hypnosis.
For example.
You experience a stress, you respond automatically with having a smoke.
You have a frustrating conversation, you eat a piece of chocolate.
You get home after work and immediately open the pantry, regardless of whether you’re hungry or not.
When you utilize hypnosis and learn self hypnosis you are creating a new neural pathway, or a new way to respond.
This pathway becomes stronger through relaxation, repetition and fixation.
Essentially hypnosis helps you strengthen that new route in your mind, making your new response automatic.
This is like lifting weights, you can’t lift a weight once and get a strong muscle can you??
You have to keep lifting!
Each hypnotic session, you strengthen your muscles of your mind!!
Your new response becomes automatic.
This is the magic of hypnosis!
